Kid's Camps

FUN is the number one answer when we ask kids what they thought of camp… but parents will tell you their kids gained so much more!  We truly believe camp is not just a place, it is an incredible opportunity to learn and grow in a protected environment tailored to meet the needs of kids in a fun and safe way with great role models. We challenge campers to try something new, reach higher then ever before, learn a new skill and share it, be a good friend, take responsibility for themselves and their actions, and discover the unique person within. Through these actions they can learn self reliance, self respect, community, and honesty.

Programs

We believe that it is important to have both structured and free choice activities. Counselors will help guide the campers to choose a variety of activities. Throughout the day we will offer activities that will challenge the campers to explore their world, learn new skills, and set higher goals for themselves, all while having fun. We also created programs that will help foster our campers abilities to respect others, build self-esteem, confidence, self-reliance, and lasting friendships.

Camp is Open to All

Girls and Boys going into the K to 12th grades in the fall are welcome regardless of race, sex, color, handicap, creed or national origin. We encourage people from many different ethnic and social backgrounds to come together and learn about one another.

Facilities Include

Riding stables, sports fields, waterfront area, camp-out sites, basketball court, and more! Good home-cooked meals are served family style in the dining hall and snacks are served daily.
OVERNIGHT Campers stay in cabins and each cabin holds six to nine campers and one counselor. Cabins have electricity and heat with a new state-of-the-art shower house (bathrooms & showers) just steps away. Bunks have four-inch foam mattresses but campers bring their own sleeping bags or bedding. Cabin placement is according to age or grade.

Safety is Important

Camp Cavell has been making campers’ experiences healthy, safe, and beneficial for over 100 years! We are licensed by the STATE OF MICHIGAN, Camp Cavell is a safe place to be. During kid’s camps, a health director lives on-site.
In order to protect children, our policy prohibits any staff person to be alone in a private location with a camper. If a camper needs to return to their cabin for an item, a staff person will never do this alone with the camper—they will get another camper or staff person to go with them. If a one-on-one conversation is necessary between a staff person and a camper, it will always be in view of other people.
The camp director personally conducts all training according to current standards. Trained staff inspect all elements and equipment, including tree climbing ropes, kayaks and life jackets, horse tack, archery equipment etc., each time prior to use.
