Volunteer Work Opportunities Weekend/Days

We set up a work day/weekend and rally our friends and volunteers to help! We desperately need help fixing/cleaning up the cabins, trimming the lawn, setting up the horse area, and just doing a general polish to camp!

Please share this information with your community groups, friends and family! We provide the food, lodging and fun. Thank you for your support!

Update! Camp Cavell Spring Clean-up Days have been adapted to address virus concerns. 

-Temperature checks may be issued at the camp’s gate.

-Household families will be working in designated areas together & sharing same cabins.

-Please try and bring and only use your own tools, cleaning supplies and rakes.

-Work mostly out of doors.

-Keep 6-foot distance from others working near you.

-Bring a face mask for everyone in your family.  -Bring hand sanitizer, if possible.

-Meal(s) will be served as an outdoor picnic.

Cabin Fees:
Volunteers – free! Please contact us if you are interested in bunking at camp. Cabin space is limited. Donations are appreciated!

DETAILS:

Weekend:  We set up work crews on the first scheduled day of each work weekend. Saturday evening, we will come together for a Saturday Night Bash with snacks, campfire, and a night walk. Sunday we will finish up loose ends. Bring pop if you would like, we will have juice, coffee, and tea. We will serve all meals to volunteers who have RSVP’d in advance. If you do not RSVP, we cannot promise enough food for you

Day:  We get started at 10am and work until 4pm. Come to the office to check in then we will help you get started with your first task.

PROJECTS INCLUDE:
Skilled Trades:
rewire cabins, add new service to program areas, install new sinks, fix underground valves, re-shingle cabins, drywall storerooms, repair vehicles, service heaters, paint inside of cabins and more! Contact us for specific needs.

Other Skills:
sewing curtains, clearing trails, raking leaves, general repairs, cabin spruce up, garbage pick up, fixing wheel chair ramps, digging out beach ramp, opening up kitchen for season, cutting firewood, repairing roofs and lots of other jobs according to need.

Equipment: 
Please bring along tools of your trade! We do have some tools, but not enough to outfit the entire gang! If you have rechargeable tools bring your re-charger and we will set them up in the dining hall! Trimmers, power washers, electric screwdrivers, chainsaws and shop vac are always needed. Bulldozers, backhoes, tractors, bucket trucks, and trailers are needed as well.

Working gloves and water bottles come in handy for everybody and it is good to bring them for the kids too!
