TREE CLIMBING!
Campers will head for the top of the trees using arborist (or “tree doctor”) climbing equipment, starting with the easiest and advancing to more challenging ones. Each day they learn more about the techniques and skills needed. Campers will get the ultimate tree climbing experience and spend the entire night in a hammock up in the trees! Campers will take their sleeping bags up in the hammock but will keep their tree climbing equipment on while sleeping.
BACKPACK!
Campers will also have the opportunity to hike over to our nearby Lumley property to enjoy a picnic lunch and canoeing in the pond. Campers will spend a night sleeping in tents at our Primitive Campsite on the south side of camp! This outdoor overnight will teach campers about primitive living and tips for outdoor survival.
KAYAK ON LAKE HURON

"REEL" Fishing Camp
4th-12th grade
This awesome week is all about fish! The campers will learn to catch’em, clean’em and cook ‘em.
This awesome week is all about learning to fish! We’ll have classes in casting, rigging rods, knot tying, fishing etiquette, and stream, pond, and lake ecology. The emphasis, as always, will be on having fun! The week will help develop beginning and intermediate skills but filled with fun activities, such as improving our fishing skills, kayaking, fly tying, and tackle crafting. We’ll take day trips to nearby fishing spots. If we get lucky, we will have a feast of fish cooked over a campfire. We will issue each of our fishing campers a day pack, small tackle box and a spin casting rod. Those campers that are interested will have an opportunity to try their hand at fly fishing too. Our target fish will be bass, bluegill, perch, catfish, and crappie.
Here’s a note from our Fishing Instructor, Jeanne Lilienthal.
All of our Reel Fishing programs will be appropriate for campers with beginner thru intermediate skills. For those of you who participated last year, we’ll change things up enough every week to keep it interesting and fun. For those who have never participated in this program before, we stress helping each other, so beginners will do fine! Fishing skills improve the more they are shared. Join us for one week or both, we’ll have fun! So many fish, so little time… If you have questions, feel free to contact me at jmlilie@aol.com
