Information for Horse Lovers in all our programs...

Come join us at
camp for an exciting week of being a horse owner!
By attending the famous Cavell Horse Auction your first day in the
program you can buy a horse for the week with your "Camp Cavell Buck-a-roos". Choose between Big Trooper, Sam the Jumper, friendly old
Dusty and lots of other neat horses! They will be your pal for the
week!
With
your horse you will learn what is included in owning a horse -
budgeting your money to buy food, renting a stall and paying for
possible Ferrier and vet bills. Learn the every day care of a
horse grooming, feeding and cleaning up after it. Your horse will
appreciate every little bit of it!
Each day you will have a project to work on
- learn about different
breeds, colors and markings, clean your horses tack or even give him a
bath. During the riding lessons you will practice skills on horse back
according to your special program listed below!
The
first day your instructors will evaluate your riding skills
- then you will join a class that is working on the skills you need
most!

BASIC
TRADERS!

|
Beginner and
intermediate riders
Basic Traders is a
great choice for a horse lover just starting. We will concentrate
on basic horse care, learning from the beginning how to groom and tack
up your horse. During the riding lessons the emphasis is on
getting comfortable on a horse and learning how to control a horse at
walk and trot. On the last day we will organize a fun show and you will
get to decorate your horse for the special day. Don't forget your
camera!

TRADERS
OVER THE FENCES

|
Advanced riders only
If you have practiced your riding and are able to
control your horse at walk, trot and canter, you are ready for this
great challenge! Jumping will be not only fun but it will also
improve your over all balance when riding. We will start with
ground rails and balance exercises and move onto cross rails and small
verticals. You will also learn how to estimate your distance to
individual jumps and how to ride several jumps in a row. The last day
is our show day where you will get to test the skills you have learned
during the week by riding a whole jump course.
(For safety considerations all riders in this program
will be evaluated and instructors will determine the level of jumping
they will be able to participate in at camp)

BARE BACK
& BALANCE

|
BARE BACK &
BALANCE – Beginner, intermediate and advanced riders
If you want to have
fun and improve your comfort level on a horse, this program is made for
you! You get to try things on a horse you didn't maybe even think were
possible…! How about riding bare back backwards or doing a trip around
the world on a horse? Included will also be vaulting (gymnastics on a
horse) and practicing mounting a horse without a saddle.
If you have an
adventurous mind and want to improve your riding through fun balancing
exercises, come have fun with us for this incredible week! The last day
also there will be a show where you get to demonstrate your new skills.
