_______________________________________________________________

Sign up now for a great time!

There's plenty to do and nice friends to meet.  Your counselors are waiting to make it the best week ever!  Being on beautiful Lake Huron, we spend lots of time exploring the beach for pieces of old ship wrecks, hunting for fossils in the cliffs, kayaking & swimming!  Check out all of the great thing to do!  Come for one week or the whole summer!

A Place to Grow!
Besides fun we hope you will take the opportunity to:
  * Try something you have never tried before
  * Take a leadership role, help lead something like
a game, song, or camp activity
  * Get to know and care about your cabin mates
  * Make lasting friendships while at camp
  * Learn more about nature
  * Help other people solve a problem
  * Discover something new about yourself!

Safety is Important
The YWCA has been making campers' experiences healthy, safe, and beneficial for 90 years! Accredited by the: AMERICAN CAMPING ASSOCIATION (ACA) and licensed by the STATE OF MICHIGAN, Camp Cavell is a safe place to be.  During summer camp, a health director lives on site.

Easy to Get To!
Located in Lexington, Michigan, north of Port Huron.  CAMP CAVELL covers over 55 acres of land, with 1800 feet of Beautiful Lake Huron shoreline.  The lodge dates back to 1927.  It's inviting porch and stone fireplaces overlook our sandy beach. Facilities include: Riding Stables, Sports Fields, Waterfront Area, Camping Sites and Basketball Court.  Good home cooked meals are served family style in the dining hall and snacks are served daily.

Camp is Open to All
You are welcome regardless of race, sex, color, handicap, creed or national origin. We encourage people from many different ethnic & social backgrounds to come together and learn about one another.

Leadership is Important
YWCA camp counselors and program specialists are selected on the basis of good character, interest, sensitivity and experience. Counselors are recruited through college programs, international programs and the YWCA. All of our counselors are over 18 years of age.

Campers Stay in Cabins
Each cabin holds seven to nine campers and one counselor. Cabins have electricity and heat with bathrooms & showers nearby. Cots have four- inch foam mattresses and campers bring sleeping bags or bedding. Cabin placement is according to age or grade.

Program
Each camper can choose the activities he/she wants to attend every morning. If you have chosen Horse Traders, Performing Arts, Cheer and Dance, or Technical Tree Climbing Camp, you will go to that specialty in the morning and do other camp activities in the afternoon. Afternoons are group time and campers decide what they would like to do including swimming, kayaking, tree climbing and much more. The whole camp gets together for "All Camp" activities after dinner. There’s usually an opportunity to have some special "cabin time" just with your cabin before turning in for the night.
