Learn Important Skills and be a Part of our Leadership Program!

Do you enjoy working with children?

Are you interested in becoming a leader in your community or working at a summer camp? Have lots of enthusiasm, camp spirit, energy and willingness to help others? This program is a challenging way to gain self-confidence, learn new skills, and acquire leadership skills while obtaining hands on experience.

Day camp CIT/LIT's come for just the day and help with our day camp staff.  Overnight program CIT/LIT’s live together in a cabin for the week.  Part of the day they attend sessions in group development, problem solving, communication and teaching skills. The rest of the time they volunteer to help in camp program areas such as Tree Climbing, Counseling, Equestrian, or Waterfront.   EIT's train and serve as volunteers at the equestrian area and come daily and work with our staff.

Overall this is an excellent way to gain important skills that will transfer well to any career you choose. Call us for more information or for an application.  Good references from past counselors, teachers or community leaders are required.

Our program is set up that first you first apply for a LIT/CIT position much like a job interview.  The application process includes submitting references, being interviewed, and accepted into the program.  You also sign a contract that you create that outlines what you can offer as a LIT/CIT to our program.

Your first time in the program you must complete a one week LIT/CIT/EIT training.  The training week's cost is $380.  The dates available for this training are on our Summer Camp Calendar.  Then if you receive a positive review at the end of the training week you will be invited to come back and volunteer for another week sometime in the summer.  You do not have to pay for the  volunteer week that you are invited back for.

PLEASE DO NOT apply for the program if you are not focused on learning new skills and helping others.

In future years you can return as a volunteer if invited to help at camp.  The number of weeks you are invited for and the cost depends on our needs at camp and your ability to contribute to a positive experience for our campers. See below.

Your First Time applying for LIT/CIT you must go through an application process that is very much like applying for a job. You must submit references, be interviewed, and accepted into the program.

For RETURNING LIT/EIT/CIT's
(For those who want to come again the year after their training!)

Once you have come for the CIT/EIT/LIT training one year, the following years you do not have to take the training again.  You can apply to help in General Program,  Equestrian, Waterfront, Tree Climbing, or Crafts & Woodshop!

If a RETURNING CIT/EIT/LIT's is accepted as a volunteer they pay only $150 for each week they volunteer. Sometimes if they are 16 or over and are needed in a specific area the $150 fee is waved.
