YWCA CAMP CAVELL WINTER PHOTOS

Winter at YWCA Camp Cavell on Beautiful Lake Huron...

Welcome to Camp Cavell in the winter time! Since we close down from December to March and most of you don't get to see camp in the winter time, we thought we would post our winter pictures.

We close down for the hardest part of the winter, because as you can see when a storm blows in from across the lake, things can pile up! Lets just hope it thaws in time!

Camp looks bare and quite without all of you. The deer move in and take over while you are all gone! The stream freezes over and the lake builds up with ice. We turn off all the water and close down all of the buildings!

This was a rather big snowstorm and the wind blew hard enough to create these huge drifts against the door.

In the winter time we park our cars out at the main road and use snowshoes and skis to get around when a storm hits.

This is the bridge to the horses. There are lots of squirrel and raccoon tracks across it. They like to take the high road too!

These trees melted perfect circles around their base.  Lots of tree limbs and loose branches come down in the winter time.

We walk around camp and check for trouble everyday.  Here a window blew open in a storm.

It is a beautiful site.  He is standing on the pier down at the beach.

Oh, and by the way there is no swimming today!
