CAMP CAVELL is...
a beautiful facility
located on Lake Huron! You can arrange for its use for a night, week,
or weekend.
It is the perfect place for your groups next seminar, retreat, meeting
or conference. Only 90 miles north of Detroit, Camp Cavell is a
beautiful
facility located on 1800 feet of Lake Huron Shoreline. We will be glad
to work
with you to create a special camp experience.
IT IS WELL SUITED FOR...
outdoor education, retreats and conferences. Rental groups include:
bands,
chorale groups, churches, school groups, children’s organizations &
sport
teams as well as many others. CAMP CAVELL is also "Accessible to All"
so people with disabilities can join in our programs.
 ITS FACILITIES INCLUDE...
a lodge for indoor recreation, a large dining
hall and kitchen, a health
cabin, staff housing, ecology building & three units of cabins,
each with a
common unit building. Its outdoor facilities include riding stables,
sport
fields, tennis and badminton courts, camping sites, a fitness course,
and other
recreational activities.
THERE IS PLENTY TO DO...
at camp!. Arrangements can be
made for horseback riding, challenge activities, swimming, hay rides
and other
programs depending on availability. Fees vary. We will be glad to help
you in
your planning.
 A BIT OF
HISTORY...
YWCA CAMP CAVELL is over 80 years old and has
been on its present site since
1927. Pieces of an old shipwreck from the late 1800’s can be found
along it’s
shore. Fossils can be found in its clay cliffs, and rocks, including
Petoskey
Stones.

WE CAN
ACCOMMODATE YOU...
with a
capacity of 250 people Camp Cavell has three cabin units, housing an
average of
80
people each. Our dining hall seats 200 people in the main room and 50
people on
the enclosed porch. Booster seats are available.
RENTAL
ARRANGEMENTS...
The camp is
rented as a complete facility including food service which boasts
a well planned menu in ample quantities. Arrangements can be made to
use the
lodge and dining hall at no additional charge.
FEES...
A complete
breakdown of fees is included in the rental information to tailor
the rental to your needs. Fees are determined by number of meals
served, nights
lodging, programs, and other special arrangements. Average room and
board for a weekend will cost
$55 - $75 per person.
TO APPLY
FOR A RENTAL PERIOD...
just fill in
the Rental
Application on this site or call our offices
to have an application sent to you. Return the application with
estimated group size, meals,
lodging and other special needs. We will check your dates for
availability and
send you a quote. Once you have the quote and if you would like
to book
the dates just call and we will work out the details and send you a
Rental
Agreement. You must send a 20% nonrefundable deposit with the
signed
agreement to confirm your dates.
INSURANCE,
ACCREDITATION, & LICENSING...
Rental
groups must have insurance coverage for their own participants.
Groups
serving children (without parents present) for more than
5 days or more must
be
licensed by the State of Michigan Dept. of Social Services. We will be
glad to assist you
in obtaining the license and provide resource material.
Camp Cavell is
accredited by the American Camping Association and all
groups attending must adhere to certain safety and quality
standards.
You will be given a RENTAL MANUAL with this information.
 NEW
ADDITIONS MAKE CAMP CAVELL ... "ACCESSIBLE FOR
ALL"
We are
excited to announce that with the help of Camp Angels and HomeCare of
Michigan we now have ramps to our cabins and an incredible ramp to our
beach! Currently 75% of our cabins &
buildings are now accessible! Our main buildings are connected by
pathways and
have accessible bathrooms. Please let us know if you have any special
needs and
we will be glad to work with you.
