There was sixty minutes of frenzy and pure excitement, just like the games that secured the Stanley Cup for the 2008 Detroit Red Wings.
 

Stanley had arrived at YWCA Camp Cavell as a special treat for the MDA campers and their volunteers, along with the local children attending day camp at YWCA Camp Cavell.  The MDA campers are young men and women suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. 

The staff and volunteers include doctors, nurses, therapists, and the many volunteers that make the camp experience possible.  Each of these young people fight a courageous battle each day of their lives.  Through the kindness of the Ilitch family and the Red Wing Hockey Association the famous Stanley Cup made an unscheduled visit on Thursday June 26, 2008 to YWCA Camp Cavell as a tribute to these young people.

To say the campers were ecstatic would be an understatement.  To say that the Stanley Cup (long recognized as the most prestigious and hard fought for award in Hockey) had found a worthy audience was evident.  For everyone the photo ops were a flurry of activity, for each, the memories will last a lifetime.
